Places in Cork City

The Capital of the South, Cork is Ireland’s third largest city after Dublin and Belfast. She began life as a monastic settlement of the famed St. Finbarre (6th Century), and was later settled by Vikings (10th Century), before becoming a Norman stronghold (11th – 12th Centuries). Like all ancient towns, Cork has been through many periods of change, successes, failures, triumphs and tragedies. Cork became known as the “Rebel City” (Click here for explanation.)
